Working in partnership with leading UK universities across the country, the Pearson Online Learning Services (POLS) teams provide online learning services including marketing, student recruitment, course content development and ongoing student support.

About the job

The Paid Media unit is one of the key functions within the Marketing team. This unit drives a significant portion of the business’ growth every year. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced paid media expert who is technically gifted and performance driven to build and lead a team of talented individuals. The Paid Media Manager is responsible for the overall performance of our paid media activities, as well as the performance and relationship with the media agencies.

Collaboration is a big part of our team culture. The Paid Media Manager will be working closely with Senior Marketing Managers and Partnership Marketing Managers to drive strategies forward, while joining efforts with other functional experts to delivery best in class execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Analysis, insight and planning

  • Analyse market and performance data to identify key trends, under performance and opportunities to maximise efficiency

  • Lead on new programme demand forecasting to feed into “go / no-go” product launch decision

  • Contribute to new initiative planning by offering data analysis expertise and insight led recommendations

  • Work with Partnership Marketing Managers on annual strategy and periodic campaign planning to ensure we are maximising ROI on paid media activities

  • Working with Senior Marketing Managers to identify cross-partnership optimisation opportunities to improve efficiency and ROI

Delivery and optimisation

  • Ensure performance optimisation process is effective and adhere to by Partnership Marketing Managers and media agencies

  • Create a test and learn framework to explore new tactics and opportunities to improve return on investment

  • Lead on performance tracking process and infrastructure improvements

  • Work with the Web and SEO team to improve lead generation conversion rate

  • Provide recommendations to the Content team on optimising advertising creative and messaging

  • Ensure all financial transactions are organised and cleared to ensure smooth campaign delivery

Performance reporting

  • Lead on paid media reporting infrastructure development – dashboards and data feeds set up

  • Regular reporting to key stakeholders in paid media channel performance from different strategic angles (Examples, but not limited to – Target country, Partnership, Audience segment)

  • Ensure the right metrics are captured and reviewed to truly reflect the contribution of paid media activities

Relationship management

  • Working closely with members of the Marketing team to ensure the paid media channel is operating effectively to drive ROI

  • Managing media agency relationship, alongside Partnership Marketing Managers to ensure both parties are held accountable for the performance outcome

  • When necessary, hold learning and sharing sessions with internal stakeholders to keep the team up to date with overall performance and best practice.

What we are looking for in you

  • Proven experience in developing and executing multi-channel paid media / digital advertising strategies with a clear demonstration of success achieved

  • Proven experience in managing agency performance

  • Proficient Google Analytics and any other performance reporting platform / software

  • Proficient in MS Office, with a special emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint

  • Proven experience in delivering paid digital advertising campaign to an international audience (Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East) is highly desirable.

  • Commercial acumen – a firm understanding and the ability to use the digital advertising in influence cost per acquisition and other business KPIs

  • Highly analytical – ability to analyse and combine data sources to extract actionable insights

  • Hands on approach – able to shift between strategy development and tactics execution whenever the situation calls for it.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to collaborate with others communicate output in a clear and concise way.

  • Innovative and curious – always seeking new ways to improve campaign performance and return on investment

  • Proactive, solutions oriented and result driven

  • Highly organised and calm under pressure
